    Hi everyone,

Im sure this has been answered many times, but I really need an idiots guide here. I have a film, but no matter what I play it on the audio is out of synch with the footage. What is the easiest way to correct this? Thank you very much

What kind of sync problem? Is the audio out of sync the same amount throughout the video or does it gradually drift out of sync?

The method to fix it may require taking the audio out and fixing the sync, then putting it back in. And you have to determine exactly how much it is out of sync for this to work.

A couple of guides, though there are not many guides out there because they are many causes for the problem and as many fixes:

    And welcome to our forums.

    Hi thanks!

The audio is out of synch the same amount the entire time. It's an offical DVD, which is what puzzles me. Is there no program or anything that can sort this out without me having to make a new DVD etc? Sorry I'm pretty useless at this stuff.

Yes , it could very well be in the disc , when it was authored which means you need to rip it to hd , extract the title streams , reauthor , including the audio - or + shift value , and the chapter times , then use vobblanker to replace the original title .

A bit of work there .

I have even seen inferior commercially released dvds cause the same issue to appear for no reason , and in those cases , the fix was to let it play , and turn the power off to the units , then back on , problem sorted .

Mine was affected by a poorly converted nstc , officially released in pal for au , yet there was a large spike in the sound play back towards the end .

Thought nothing of it , untill I played we were soldiers , and the mouths were moving , but the audio was 3 seconds behind . Ok , it was funny , we had a hugh laugh , but after 5 minutes , it was annoying as it was a hired disc I hired for the day with a few friends over for the day .

Took about 3 minutes to sort out , and that other offending disc went back and got a refund for it .

Also noted an issue with anaconda , during the first chapter , there's a hidden high peak in the sound file , that pcs pickup which caused the audio volume in play back to die completely , then back , then die , and around it went continuing the same pattern , yet home players were not affected .
