Hi. I have the Nintedo Wii, Wii software (RedKawa Wii video 9), and both miniSD (for my cellphone with included miniSD adapter) and the SD (2.0 GB) for the Wii. However, here is what I'm trying to do and I have no luck of exactly what video (raw or converted) formats the Wii can play:

    1) Turn Wii on
    2) Insert SD (or MiniSD card with adapter)
    3) Point to Photo Channel and select option 1 (first "slide")
    4) Have the Photo Channel view photos (in *.jpg or *.jpeg format(s))
    5) Tried to have the Wii view the files that I have stored on either miniSD or SD
    6) It can't recognize files that are in regular quicktime (*.mov) or *.avi formats. What exactly did I do wrong? What are the EXACT steps that the Wii can recognize video file formats? Please help!

    Thanks!

first -- i had to do a firmware update on our Wii (just connect it to the net and do a update)

then the format Wii video 9 made played just fine ... the Wii supports FLV (played with the browser only) or Motion JPEG (w/PCM audio) in an avi container

Ok. I'll try this when I have time. What do you mean by "PCM"? Is that a file format? If so, what is it? And, what do you mean by avi container?

I'll reply back whether or not my Wii needs a firmware update. Thanks!

Hi. I have done the performed steps to do a Wii update a while ago tonight... there is no currently available updates for it; so, I'm assuming that I've probably got the latest stuff installed on my Wii. I'm going to also assume that the first reply I've made may still not work. I might try to convert FLV files to Wii, but don't know if it's going to work, either.

Are there any other (or new) ways to convert either FLV and/or MPG (or PCM) files to the Wii that WILL work? Thanks.

I think I found the solution to my video conversion problems: While I came across google-searching, I saw 2 sites that probably helped me out:
    1) http://media-convert.com/ and
    2) Hmm.. I'll have to find this one because I know I found the 2nd site. Oh well. I'll keep ya posted.
