Hi,
i've seen alot of threads with the subject, and couldn't get any conclusive answer to that.
i'm using Subtitle WorkShop with my srt files, and, though color Tags are seemingly obliged by SW while working with it, however it doesn't save the tags in the file. i'm playing and
burnning Avi files mostly, with subtitles permanently joined. i find it necessary to have the
ability to use color Tags ( "<C:#xxyyzz>" ) on certain subtitles within the text. adding them manually won't do, they just show on as text while playing. i have VobSub installed,
and as i understand, this "guy" is responsible to read(?) and render correctly the subtitles,
or am i wrong?
any idea how to do that?

thanks

Hi-
In my opinion SRT files are a waste of time, if you want to do anything with them. Convert to SSA format (using SubResynch from the VobSub package, among other ways), open them in SubStation Alpha, and use the Style Override to change the color or about anything else you want. You can burn them into your AVIs and the colors will be honored.
But if you want to continue to use SRT format, maybe someone else can help. -
SRT is basically just plain text. Sometimes you see SRTs "enhanced" by pseudo HTML codes for colours, and styles, but they're not standard. Even just italic codes can be problematic.
Subtitle WorkShop is great for editing and timing, but for formatting forget it.
If you want them to look pretty, use ASS format, which Vobsub should parse properly, and editors like Aegisub to format them. The anime subbers love colour, fonts, and weird effects, they use this mostly.

thanks,
as said here, Subtitle Workshop is indeed great in editing and timing, but i can see now
its limitation with style and formatting. a question, though, is Substation Alpha as friendly
as SW? i mean, can i still use SW, and save the file as SSA (it has the ability to it), and
then just use Substation Alpha for these specials?Jacobmu
