Apples latest security and Quicktime update causes severe problems with several third party apps, especially for OSX 10.3 users. MPlayer and subsequently ffmpegX is among the apps that don't work at all after the update. MacSilentG's post from march 7th is a prime example of what happens. Let's hope that Apple release a fix asap. [/b]

10.3.9 users are better off w/ QT 7.1.3. I posted the same link on Preview/ no play discussion.
This explains the steps to revert from 7.1.5 back to 7.1.3. It works!

When you tried to open an avi file, the mplayer window just quited and closed after a few seconds. I have just deinstalled 7.1.5 and reinstalled 7.1.3 following the link provided by Dolly here. Now everything is back to normal again You can read more about the upgrade bug at http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=122

I wonder if this is what's happening to me.

I'm trying to convert a .MOV created with iMovie (H.264) to a FLV. FFMpegX does the "conversion" in about 1/2 a second, and not surprisingly, the output is zero bytes in length.

Clicking the info button shows this error:

    Codec type mismatch for mapping

Any hints on how I can get around this???? Thanks in advance!

    - Bryan

You're not the first to encounter this error. The developer suggests a solution for this in post #1510792.

    Thanks for the tip, Case.

In the end, I just gave up and found another tool. I went with VisualHub at it worked flawlessly.

The problem does not happen on Intel Macs.

I'm not sure if this problem really doesn't apply to Intel Macs:

I am trying to convert a .wmv to a .flv ... sound out of sync, framerate @ 2fps ... Sorenson Squeeze did the job nicely, but unfortunately I only have the trial copy and can't use the sorenson-logo in the picture. Buying this software is not an option because it costs like 800 bucks and I only need to convert a few movies.

I did invert the sound mapping as suggested on several posts, but found no solution for the out of sync sound and the bad framerate.

Does this have something to do with the new Quicktime? Because I do have it installed.

    Thank you for your help!

    Intel Macs aren't affected.
