Firstly apologies if this topic has already been covered but I just don't know where to look.
I've recently invested in a DVD recorder / VCR recorder. One of the first things I have done is copied some home made family video recording from video cassette to DVD disc. I now want to edit the dvd disc and maybe even add some music. I know you can capture movie files straight from a digital camera for editing but could someone please tell how I can edit the dvd disc. I have copied the recording to my hard disc.
I can tell you that the file type is showing as a Video_TS format and when I open this it there are other files.
Sorry if it sounds a bit vague but I'm sure some of you will know what I am on about and trying to achieve. Cheers

There is a software which will take VOB files. You can edit them (cut, transition, fade, etc.), add your own music and at the end export DVD with menu. It is called Mpeg Video Wizard DVD, here is a web site.

There are others, but I found this very practical, since it takes VOBs without re encoding.

If you are looking for good free programs to do this, I don't know of any that are decent.

Perhaps someone will post a suggestion.

I've been doing this for like 5 years now. seriously.

Also, i have some friends who always try to convince me to change my procedures for this particular editing process, but i always come back to this, because it just works like i want.

    Here's what i do:

I import my series of vob files in DVD2AVI, and then i export to d2v project.
If i need the audio in WAV, i make the conversion with dvd2avi also.
If i want to demux, i just check "demux audio" in the options panel.

Then... i take the .d2v file and i convert it to AVI with VFAPI converter.
I take that fake AVI file, and i import in any program i want, like vegas, premiere or something...

    that's it.

    --------

You would be surprised about how SMOOTH the playback is, by doing this. Most mpeg-2 decoders, just suck, and i don't even care about trying decoders anymore, because no codec is just as precise on FRAMES, like this method.

Some of the most beautiful editings i've done in my life, are done with this 2 programs.

    --------

Is like having a huge DV-AVI file.

    is so smooth,
    looks so great,
    works so well,
    is just amazing.

Hope this helps... and sorry for the bad english, i'm from Venezuela.
