    Hey all,

I'm trying to create an AVI with burned in subtitles. However for some reason I am not able to change the font or size of the subtitle.

I found this thread (click here) that address the problem and says to use an older version of the Mencoder Binaries. I have tried the one it recommends (I think, I am using ffmpegXbinaries230105) but its still not working.

Any suggestions on to get this working would be great

  2. You should use "DivX mencoder" to convert, and load the srt subtitles in the Filters tab. Make a test with a short clip before doing the full movie. Make sure you install the previous binaries with the "ffmpegX > Install binaries" command.

    Thanks Major,

I am doing as you said although I am converting from a VOB file that has subtitles on it so no SRT file. The subtitles still stay the same size and font no matter what setting I choose.

  4. That is normal, as DVD subtitles are images embedded in the file, and cannot be resized. Only text-based subtitles like SRT can be modified.

I have the same problem and i'm using srt files.

If I click preview it shows the change but not when the file has been encoded.

Anyone know a fix?. The subtitles are bit too small on a tv screen.

  7. Try the old version of the mencoder binary as said at the top of this page.

Major, could you include the links to the old versions, please?

Both for the ffmpegx version (0.0.9s or 0.0.9u) that this will work correctly under, and the binaries that require swap out.

I'm pretty certain how to fiddle with this, but I cannot find the proper versions.

    Thanks.
