I made the mistake of installing itunes and even though I uninstalled it long ago I get an ever increasing number of spam emails. itunes clearly sells their email list to anyone. Avoid installing the itunes software.

I've never even had to enter an email in order to obtain, install, or use iTunes so I'm not sure why you would think that would be the cause of your spam? The only thing you need an email address for is the iTunes store, but again I've had an account with them (and with Apple for that matter) for years and years and the email I use with them doesn't get much spam out of the ordinary.

Now Microsoft definitely sells them. I recall signing up for a hotmail account about seven years ago and having 30 junk emails the next day. And I hadn't even used the email address yet. I still hear of issues with that from customers today. They put in better junk mail filters to get rid of the junk they are causing to begin with. I've never heard of any such issue with iTunes though. I also never had to put in an email.

If you opt to give them an email address, like Wulf mistakenly did,
You mereley need to pay attention the the check mark box that allows apple to send you product announcements and un check it.. No Spam. Simple. This way you get no mail absoulutely never.
If you're careless, they've now put you on every mailing list associated with iTunes they have.
I have installed iTunes on windows computers over 20 times and receive no spam email from either apple or third party companies.
Just look before you leap.
I don't know how, in this day and age, you can run a Windows box without iTunes (or at least Quicktime) anyway...
Best advice..put iTunes on your MAC and you won't get spam for sure! (of course on a mac iTunes is already there)
