  1. I just purchased a car that has a 30 gig hd which will allow you to rip songs from a commercial disc. It will not however allow you to rip mp3s or wma's from a disc. The manual says that it employs SCMS copyright protection thus disallowing the rip from a cd-r with mp3s. My problem is that my cd collection (some 300 discs) were stolen from my last vehicle via a window smash. I had backed up the discs to my computer as mp3s. How can I get these songs to the hd in my car.

What happens when you try a CD burnt as a "proper" Audio CD (as opposed to a data disc with MP3s) ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

It'll take a while, but Convert mp3-->WAV-->Burn2CD-RW-->rip into your car-->reuse theCD-RW. Should work. Use a burning app that allows you to TURN OFF the "copyrighted" flag (just in case your car is picky there too).

  4. Yup, just tried that. Converted mp3s to wav and burnt, it allowed them to be recorded. The only problem now is that I can only download 17-19 tracks at a time versus 200, but at least it works. Thankfully the car recognizes cd-rw's so I don't have to waste discs.
