Hi,
I want to record certain tv shows (let's just say Everybody Loves Raymond) every weekday at x pm.
What hardware(s) do I need and how does it record if the TV is off?
Sorry, I'm new to this.
Thanks for replies and help!

What hardware do you have?
You could use the classic VCR. You could step up to the modern age and use a DVR. You could build/modify your pc to a htpc.
What exactly are you trying to do and how do you want to do it?Google is your Friend -
I guess I need a magical recorder that would turn itself on and record show aaa every weekday (not weekend) from 4 to 5p pacific. Everyday, I would replace the vhs (or dvd) with a blank one.
