I am using the Polaroid recorder. Everything seems to work with this machine and I've been purchasing SONY +R discs.
What is 8x and 16x? And I see from the blog that some people prefer Taiyo Yuden discs. What's the general recommendation?
Thanks.

2x, 4x, 8x etc refer to the theoretical maximum burn speed of the disc. It assumes you have a burner capable of reaching these speed, which you may not. Single speed is the standard playback speed.
Have a look at www.nomorecoasters.com for a run down on different discs. Yes, TY gets a strong rap around here. But Verbatim and TDK also make some good discs. What you need to find are the discs that burn and play back consistently well on your equipment. It may take some trial and error on your part to find out exactly what that is.
That said, crap discs are crap discs, so avoid the low end. However even at the high end, what works for one pseron may not be right for you.Read my blog here.
