I wouldn't want anybody to miss out on the new features in ImgBurn 2.2. It now has a layer break preview window so you can see the video where your layer break choices are for dual layer burns. That alone is worth the download.

LIGHTNING UK! has also added a sector viewer that is a very nice tool.

Plus many more additions and fixes.

  2. lol the sector viewer has been in there for ages!

The biggest new bits are probably Read mode and Unicode support.

Of course it's probably easier if people just read the full changelog to see what's new

In that case, I would like to convey a belated "thank you" for putting it in...long ago, and a current thank you for all you continue to do.

Read mode, is that like the ISO read mode in DVD decrypter? So now with Imgburn 2.2 I could Iso read, Iso write? If so that's awesome. I currently us copytodvd for burning since I $$ years ago. But I'm gonna grab Imgburn 2.2 now.

  12. Hi, Can someone clear something up for me please.

I understand that IMGBURN has a preview window so you can see where the layer break will be, but what I need to know is this:-

Does this preview window show a video clip of the layer break position, if not how does it work and how do you use it.

I had a look at the forums at IMGBURN but I couldn't seem to find any reference to it's use.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Eyedoctor2,

The sector viewer lets you view the data in one disk sector (at a time) on the burned media. It's like a hex editor, except you can't change the data (of course). If you're interested in what the actual data on the disk is, without having it interpreted by software, it's very handy. I wouldn't think most people have any use for it, but I enjoy the heck out of it.

    HARRYSPADGE,

When the "Create Layer Break Position" window pops up, click on one of the layer break choices, and then the "Preview Selected Cell" button at the bottom of the window, which brings up the preview window.

In the preview window, if "1" is showing in the textbox in the middle of the buttons (at the top), you're seeing the last cell that would be on the first layer. When it changes to "2" in the textbox, you're looking at the first cell that would be on the second layer. By using the scroll bar and/or the "<" and ">" buttons (or left and right keys on your keyboard), you can step one frame at a time, to see exactly where the layer break (and a slight pause) would occur.

By previewing the equally ranked layer break choices, you have a much better idea which would be the best location to put the layer break.

    EDIT: fixed typos

  16. VegasBud,

Thanks for your kindness in answering my question.

    One other question:

Does AnyDVD + ImgBurn 2.2 = DVD Decrypter Iso read of old?

    Thanks!

For practical purposes the answer is yes.

  19. It would be really great if ImgBurn would support the creation of iso images from a CD. I have as of yet been unable to find a decent program to create bootable iso images from existing CDs in Windows. I can do it in Linux just fine, but I'd like to have the option in both OS's.

    TwistedLincoln,

ImgBurn does have an option to create a bootable disk/image. The last part of this guide explains the technique. There are also topics that concern bootable disks/images in the forum at the ImgBurn website. If none of those help, you could start a new topic on that forum, and likely get pointers on how to overcome problems you might run into.
