  1. Hello, i'm new here!
I would like to ask you where is the difference in having a xVCD or SVCD? Or better what do you thing is the better one? I tried both! My source was a DVD. And in my opinion the result was not much better on SVCD. So i think it does not make any sense, because it takes much longer to convert on my AMD 1400.

Give me some reasons to make SVCD instead of XVCD.
    Kind regards,
    Alex

Svcds support additional features that xvcds cannot such as up to 4 toggleable subtitle streams, up to two separate stereo audio tracks, interlaced video, and a largely unsupported audio format known as multichannel mpeg audio.

If you don't use any of these features then for your current hardware setup there probably is no reason to use svcd over xvcd. However svcd is a supported format and there is no guarantee that the dvd player that you buy in 5 or 10 years will support your xvcds. With svcds at least you know where you stand.
