    Hi,

When trying to wach mtv, vh1, etc... (predominantely the U.S sites), I always get the message: "Due to restrictions, this is not available outside the U.S", but was just wondering if there is anyway round this?

What with all these "workarounds" nowadays, even the URL would be handy, so I could capture a video, and not necessarily even watch it ?

    Many Thanks......

    Sean !!!

Have you tried a U.S proxy server?
He's a liar and a murderer, and I say that with all due respect.

    Thanks "streveryan" for the reply.

No I haven't, i'm not sure how to do that.

I use WM Recorder, Replay A/V, URL Snooper, and Hi-Download for all sites that I can access here from the UK.

Is it easy enough to access a US Proxy Server, what would that entail ?

Sorry, but my knowledge doesn't stretch to this I'm afraid.

    Many thanks.....

http://www.publicproxyservers.com/page1.html and then add the proxy server in internet explorer under tools->internet options->lan settings->proxy server.

But many of those proxy servers doesn't work or can be blocked from several sites.

There are pay sites that let you choose the speed and monthly limits.

    http://theproxyconnection.com/signup.html

You could email them and ask. An ftp proxy to save video won't work, because they don't want you saving their videos. You'll need a proxy that supports port switching on the fly and allows encrypted authentication to pass through.

The "restrictions" in your case in the UK are probably economic more than anything else.
To watch broadband video in another country means someone has to pay for a big pipe from here to there. US advertisers don't want to pay for a UK audience they can't sell their products to.
