    i have a mkv file with hd content in it and I wanna author it as a hd dvd so i can play it on my dvd player. What program can I use to do this properly? Or rather, how can i get hd quality video on my dvd plyer without comprimising the quality?

    You can't play HD DVD in your DVD player unless it is a HD DVD player.

    In which case, the best you can do is to encode the video at the highest bitrate you can and author it as a DVD.

    yeah I wored myself poorly. I have HD content, and I want to burn it to a dvd and play it. https://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers.php?DVDnameid=7060&Search=Search

    Should allow me to do that right? So what I need to find out, is how to take an .mkv with h264 720p content and convert it to something I can stick on dvds and play.
