is there a reliable way of controlling the final filesize of encoded videos with mac softwares? i've tried both ffmpegx and mpeg stream clip, and cannot for the life of me get an encode to hit my target of 700MB despite using various bitrate calculators, predicted filesize from the program etc.
here's an example of hte type of source material:
Stream: heroesfeb5QSF_cf.ts
Path: ~/Desktop/heroesfeb5QSF_cf.ts
Type: MPEG transport stream
Duration: 0:42:10
Data Size: 4.20 GB
Bit Rate: 14.26 Mbps
i'm trying to encode down to 700MB, and was using x264 since its fast and higher quality (or so i've heard) than xvid. mpeg stream clip, despite "limit the data rate" to 2130kbps with 128kbit audio makes files >800MB
can anyone offer any help? i dont understand why this is so hard for me when autogk in windows can hit the target exactly without issue.....
