  1. I don't do this often enough to become expert, so bear with me.

I'm using MTR to change the region codes and rip 3 DVDs.

One had just over 4 gigs and I had no problem with the change.

The other two had somewhat over 7 gigs and seemed to go through MTR fine

But when I used DVD2One to compress those 2, I got the message about
not being able to deal with protected DVD's. (Same with DVDRemaster).

When I used the Movie Only option in DVD2One and chose "cell" and
deleted one of the shows by unchecking some boxes, it worked and
    plays in DVDPlayer.

Can anyone tell me what is going on here?

    Thanks for your help,
    Basie

Visit ripdifferent.com, register and post there. Let them know the name of the movie. There are later versions of MTR available for a donation. Copy protection keeps getting tougher. MTR is still a work in progress (as soon as GB gets over the flu).

Couple of possibilities, Basie. The most common in that the
DVDs in question have the new Sony/Disney copy protection.
If you have a DL writing capability, try writing to a DL (DVD+R)
disc without compression. That often works. If you want/need
to use Single Layer (SL) discs, choose "main feature" in DTOX
and remove all cells of 0 (zero) duration or length at the front
    and end of the file.

Let us know how that works.

  4. Thanks Al,

Nothing was working and I needed to get it done somehow so
I used Handbrake to produce an mp4 and then ran it through ffmpegX
to get a DVD. Not pretty but it worked.

What is/was confusing to me is why the discs with 2 episodes (4 gigs)
had no encryption issue but the discs with 3 episodes (7 gigs) were
rejected by DTOX. 'Way over my head.

By the way, these DVD's were from the BBC (Region 2) and
    not available for the US.

    Thanks again,

    Basie

Also if you are using a MaSHITa drive this could also be your problem.
