  1. I have long used Audacity to record stream audio. Since I installed Windows Vista the drop down box to choose stereo mix is not active. What other software are there?

Right click on vistas sound-control-panel and select "show deactivated" You will see the stereo mix device appear. You can activate it, by right click-> activate.

    Specific steps:

Right click on the speaker icon in the tray.

    Select "Recording Devices"

In the resulting dialog, make sure you have the "Recording" tab selected and in the middle of the empty area, right click and select "Show Disabled Devices".

  6. Why does it only work with 1 channel settings? I can choose 2 channel in the preferences in recording device and as well in audacity. Its only able to record in 1 channel though.
