Middle of the road here, i enjoy football but it is only game. I'd say slightly overhyped. As for your third selection the last couple of Super Bowls have been quite good. And it's never over until it's over...

Fewer than two minutes into the third quarter, the Bills yielded a 58-yard interception-return touchdown and fell behind 35-3.

True the patriots superbowls were great with winning by a field goal but usually they aren't that close.

  4. I love watching the superbowl, so put me in the no column for overhyped. I just wish the Cowboys were in the superbowl. Oh well, at least I still have the Mavericks. I have a feeling that they will win the NBA championship this year.

I actually like the two teams in the bowl this year so I'm certainly a little more interested in it this year. However I've always hated the Superbowl for the fact that the people in the stands are mostly just rich posturing bastards that aren't even really fans for either side. If a friend offered me tickets to a Superbowl in which the Pack wasn't playing I'd probably pass. I think the seats should be for fans foremost then family and friends of the team.

Yes! of course way overhyped for just one game

    But with a condition,

The game? No, not overhyped, the teams earned their way there in a round about way by being arguably the best two, luck included.

The halftime shows and fireworks and multimillion dollar ads? Pretty much hype, but with a condition again. Yes this is the end all event for a season so to speak and it does deserve some fanfare, but what in the hell does Janet Jackson or that other little punk (don't remember his name) have to do with a mans sport? (OK nudity is accecptable, and there should be more of it or atleast more near nudity, but why bring a queer to the show?)

Half time should be pole dancers or a Monster Truck race or Evil Keinevil crashing on a landing ramp! Beer should be flowing and blood should be spilling, "Bring on the Gladiators!"

Balloons, balloons? If you are gonna release baloons the fans should be allowed to shoot at them for doorprizes or free beers! They should raffle off the cheerleaders too!

Fireworks? Well OK I dig fireworks. But they should pick a drunk err I mean a fan or two from the crowd to light them and pass out a few at the gates when you come in.

The game itself could use some improvements too. Oh I don't know, Maybe give the players some baseball bats? (Oh jeeze don't freak out, I mean look at how much equipment those guys are wearing anyhow) Maybe play the game on a complete grid of 4'x4' trap doors that open at random! Snow should be manditory! Every first down the players should have to slam a shot or chug a beer! (Hey those guys get thristy too ya know)

All in fun, all in fun. I am a fan not a fanatic, but I would like to have a chance to do a kick off or try for a feild goal! I can kick like a mule! And I am almost as smart!

    GO BEERS! and Bears too.

Superbowl Sunday is one of the best days to go surfing. Everybody is at home watching the game. They show every play on highlight shows for three months following the game anyway.
Also, being from San Diego, the NFL no longer exists for me........................

Not at all. Of course, I'd love for someone to at least show some respect to the Bears. I refer to this image again:

All week I heard about how the Bears could not compete against the #1 offense in the NFL. What happened? Complete blowout. Yet they are still the underdogs going into the Super Bowl. They've scored the same amount of points through the season. People keep bad mouthing Grossman yet he has a higher passer rating than Manning in these playoffs. He has a higher career win percentage than Manning in the playoffs. He also has the same amount of playoff TD passes as Manning this season but Manning has 5 MORE interceptions than Grossman (who has only had one). Yet all I hear is talk about how Grossman is going to lose it for the Bears.

I can definitely agree with that, I'd imagine a lot of them aren't even football fans in general. It's always been my opinion the Super Bowl should be played in all stadiums on a rotating basis or one of the teams playing. See how many of those people show up in a outdoor stadium in the northern states during a cold snap....

That would have been awesome. Especiall this year as the Bears were the #1 seed. The Super Bowl in Soldier Field... but that is only wishful thinking

I haven't watched it in decades. I don't even know who is playing. Yes, it's overhyped.

The bears should be a lock, but we have to wait and see which QB shows up for the game. The consistent one, or the crappy one.

    Funny thing I got today.

This morning a Gary, Indiana teacher explains to her class that she is an Indianapolis Colts fan. She asked her students to raise their hands if they are Colts fans, too. Not really knowing what a Colts fan was, but wanting to be liked by their teacher, their hands flew into the air.

There is, however, one exception. Susie has not gone along with the crowd. The teacher asks her why she has decided to be different. “Because I’m not a Colts fan” she reports.

“Then,” asks the teacher, “what are you?”

“I’m a Chicago Bears fan,” boasts the little girl.

The teacher asks Susie why she is a Bears fan. “Well, my Dad and Mom are Bears fans, so I’m a Bears fan, too” she responds.

“That’s no reason” the teacher says. “What if your mom was a moron, and you dad was a idiot. What would you be then?”

Susie smiles and says, “Then I’d be a Colts fan.”

Oh come now. People have been saying that for a while. He has shown that he can step it up when it is required. He has thrown only one interception in the playoffs. Manning has 6. SIX!! Grossman also has a higher passer rating than Manning. Manning has thrown more interceptions than touchdowns. Not so for Grossman. He has more touchdowns than interceptions. Yet it is Grossman that people are doubting?

Regardless of which version of Grossman shows up there is still a serious defense that the Colts have to contend with.

Yeah, sad, considering that opening play. Oh well. Maybe next time. It's just one game, after all.

Not a series. Which is why baseball is better than football, by the way.

Hmmm, Super Bowl Series? Now there is an Idea! Best 4 out of 7!

I actually thought that the Bears were gonna walk all over the Colts. Just goes to show...

Yeah, that was weird. Teams have been avoiding kicking the ball towards him for that very reason. He has the NFL record for kick returns for touchdowns in a season (and he's a rookie). I guess the Colts underestimated him.

Hester reminds me of Desmond Howard when the Pack first picked him up and returned a kick for a TD in one of their Superbowl appearances.

Getting the TD on the opening kickoff was too much like the BCS Championship game. Three of my friends are Buckeyes so when they saw that opening kickoff return they were pretty skeptical of the Bears winning the game.

And it was Grossman who lost the game for the Bears. I'm disappointed he actually lived up to the doubts people were having about him for that game. He needs to go. Yes, he can be a fantastic QB some nights but consistency is far better than having such swing in your QB rating throughout the season. The defense didn't seem to show up either, the Colts were cutting them to bits with short passes all night.

Colts weren't so hot either. I don't think either team deserved to be winners after such sloppy football

Dunno 'bout the Super Bowl being overhyped, but Gator QBs sure as hell are!
