    Good day all.

I recently found a guide here https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=316333 to convert Xvid to DVD using FitCD.

That was a very nice guide. Easy to understand for dumbasses like me and well-written.

Everything was going pretty well (aside from the fact that AVIMux GUI doesn’t like VBR audio – found a way around that) until I tried loading the AviSynth AVS file into HCenc.

HCenc froze. It would not load the file. I did the Ctrl, Alt, Del thing and closed the program. I then tried to reload it. HCenc just ignored the fact that I was doing anything. Closing the program and reopening didn’t help, so I rebooted.

I went through the same procedure and the exact same thing happened.

I do believe I followed the guide to the letter except for the audio encode thing.

    Does anyone have any ideas?

And, another question just occurred to me. Does HCenc only accept demuxed files? That could be my problem. I ran the original source through ffmpegGUI to get a good audio file, but I don’t think that app demuxes.

Could I be onto the answer to my own question here?

    Thanks all.

Load the avs script (the one you feed hcenc) in MPC - does it play the video as supposed, or display some error message?

    Mats,

Is that a good test for AVS script files?

    (Gawd, I hate being ignorant.)

Yes, about the only way I know to debug them.
Just creating them and then feed them to some encoder is like writing a novel and send it off for print without having even eyed it tru.

    Thanks, man.

That, for me, is a truely helpful tip.

    I appreciate it.
