Or for anyone who has this unit. I've been surfing around the web looking to see if any one has come across this problem. I am getting a "disk detection error" when I fire up the unit and try to watch on my television. reason why I am asking you (baldrick) on one of the forums their is a bladrick who purchased one. I am guessing it's you. I have formatted my hard drive fat32 and ntfs, changed the pin configs on the HD and I still get the "disk detection error" I hae two drives that give me this error. BTW when I take the unit o my computer it comes up on xp and 98. Any help would be appricated. -garman

Just make sure you have partitioned the hd's before they are formatted ... or it will throw out that message .

Yes , you can format a drive ... but without partitioning , it's pointless .

1: Install hd as slave in pc .
2: fire pc up ... if jumper's / cable's setup correctly ... xp os will show device .
3: Right click "my computer" , select "manage"

And follow the ms kb article to partition and format the new drive ... when done , it's ready for the mediagate device .

So from what i gathered in your post i can't use one partition on the mediagate device.
If I need to partition the device how much space do I allocate. I have an 80G drive and i would like to keep my fat32 format instead of ntfs. Im assuming you have the same unit or something similar. thanks for all your help. BTW baldrick sorry for the confusion!

    Edit
I did all that and still the same nonsense. I guess this puppy is going back. I would have love to keep it, many good things about it, if it works.! BTW no response from the support staff!
