Help please converting MP4 [H.264 video with MPEG-4 AAC LD audio) to DVD

    Here is a GSpot screenshot:

    How do I do this?

I never had to deal with this type of file format before. If possible I'd like to convert via AviSynth to MPEG-2 DVD spec using CCE. Also would like to convert the audio to standard AC-3 format.

shouldn't it work if you use directshowsource() in avisynth if you have installed haali media splitter and ffdshow or coreavc for decoding?

I tried this simple AviSynth AVS script:

    Code:
    DirectShowSource("C:\ZZZ\filename.mp4")
When I open this up into VirtualDubMod I get this:

It is possible that DRM is an issue considering where I got the file ... although I am not positive of that and have no idea how to check to see if DRM is there or not.

    P.S.
When VirtualDubMod is attempting to open the file ... before giving the above error ... the Haali Media Splitter icon shows up in my icon tray (down by the CLOCK).

I should point out that trying to play this MP4 with VLC causes VLC to crash and burn.

    That's a huge file for h264!

Can't help you with avisynth and cce, but if you are willing to step down to nero vision, you shouldn't have any problem converting to dvd (as long as your file is not corrupted). I've don't it before many times.

Do you have x264 codec installed?

I poked about some and found out that the file has some sort of DRM ... I can get it to play back but only on this one software player (supplied with the file).

I've never done this before due to quality concerns but it looks like I will just play this back and record it to a stand alone DVD recorder using the video out jack on my computer's video card. That should work I guess although it is a "low tech" solution.

As for the file size ... the quality of playback is MOST excellent on my 19" 1280x1024 LCD monitor. It looks like a DVD Video and not a XviD or DivX type MPEG-4 file. The only problem is that it plays back at 16x9 WS with no way to adjust it on the monitor and the black level seems "off" a bit (too bright) but image quality is damn impressive.
