I have 2 mkv files that only displays green picture (out of 25 in the same torrent file) when I tried using WMV, classic, and VLC

But when I used VirtualdubMOD, the video displays just fine. So it may have been codec issue. However VirtualdubMOD doesn't display the subtitle for some reason. Since the audio is Japanese only I need subtitle to follow the video. And this is where I keep running into problems

I am able to separate the subtitle into srt file but Vobsub won't handle those. I tried subtitle workshop and it didn't offer convert to idx but it had 20 different .sub format. None of them I tried would work with Vobsub.

I tried AVISub but it seemed unreliable and caused Windows Explorer to crash a lot in the background. Plus it kept rejecting the video because it can't "handle" it. I have tried straight stream from the original mkv, converted to DiVX 5, DiVX 4, 3.11, 3vid, and Xvid all of them were rejected by AVISub.

I checked the guides here and didn't get any new idea. One guide I tried already covers what I did, other goes to DVD with switchable subtitle and that'd be too many steps involved in the end when I rip the newly created DVD to convert to avi.

WHAT would I need to do to get the video stream from mkv and the subtitle file .srt to work together so I could enjoy the last 2 shows of the series???

Try installing ffdshow and see if the files play with mpc. If not,

    Virtualdubmod supports srt ..
