  1. Hi there,

My local MDG Canada sales SOYO LCD HDTVs for a low price. I could pick-up a 32" for $650 CAD before tax.

I do not personally know this company (SOYO) but I've learned not to judge electronics by the brand since sometime, the brand name might be all your paying for.

Also, do you think the 32" LCD will give me a 1024X768 resolution if I plug my media PC with a DVI to HDMI cable? My current TUBE HDTV only allows me to have 720X480.

    Here's the website for SOYO's LCD: http://www.soyousa.com/products/select.php?id=4

    Thank you

If you are buying what they spec then the responsibility is on you.

They seem to be a LCD panel broker expanding into box sales. They only spec the panel. That doesn't make it a computer monitor or LCD-TV that you can use. Somebody needs to finish the engineering and add stuff to make it into a computer monitor or LCD TV. Maybe they have but the specs don't tell us. Ask the retailer and see it you trust him. My experience is retailers know very little so make sure your lawyer is on top of the return policy and warranty repair.

In other words, if you are going to deal with these people, you need to be smarter than they are on the subject.

PS: OK, I looked deeper. They are mostly a repackager of foreign sourced assembles and supply very basic products to retail chains. They have almost no brand ID or direct customer support. In other words a "house brand" for a retail chain. Their financial 8k / 10k statements are mostly about settling disputes with their suppliers and little about the consumer. http://www.soyousa.com/corporate/investor.php

These products may be a great deal if you know how to evaluate, or they may not.
