I have a video that I needed to import on Windows Movie Mk for certain reasons. However, when I tried to import it, a window came up saying "The file C:/Documents and Settings/....(and so on),is not indexed and cannot be imported." I don't know what that is all about, but is there any way I can get this imported onto Movie Mk? Or should I use some other Application?

I feel stupid right now >_>

  2. What kind of file is it? Is it an AVI? How did you create it?

It is a .wmv, and I downloaded it (sorry forgot to mention that) but i also saved a copy of it as a .avi and it still wont work, AND it just so happens that when I try to convert it, the other file is only part of the original, not the whole thing, and with EVERY converter I use as well. It angers me >

If you have the whole file in AVI type format, you might try VirtualDub Mod. If it can't import it as a AVI, then it likely has a problem. The way you describe it sounds like a corrupted file. Have you been able to play it all?

With VDM or VD, use 'File>Open video file' and when the next page comes up, put a checkmark in 'Ask for extended options after this dialog'. Then in the new window, check 'Rederive keyframe flags'. That may fix the index file. Then resave it. Try 'Full processing mode' and choose the same codec. You may be able to do a 'Direct stream copy', but try this first. You can also use VDM to 'Scan video stream for errors' which may turn up a few problems.

I'm not much help for WMV, as I don't use that format.

Is it something anyone can download so we can test it?

You can try repair/reindex the wmv with steeper or asfbin.
