I don't know why, but I suddenly had a thought that I can't let go...
Anyone know if the live downsampled SD DV output from HDV camcorders is generated from full I frames (i.e., pre temporal compression) or recreated from the MPEG2? (Obviously, for recorded material, it must be recreated from the MPEG2).
If so, it provides an interesting way to record both HDV (onto tape) and DV (without motion artifacts) via Firewire to a PC (i.e., D2D).
