The 35W AMD AM2 socket X2 3800+ (ADD3800CUBOX) is as rare as rocking horse $hit.
Everywhere seems to be out.
Does anyone know of a secret stash?

If you don't mind Ebay:

Sorry missed the part about ADD3800CUBOX..... -
This might sound a bit extreme, but it might be the last way to get one, buy the HP s7600e computer configured with one and take the processor out and dump a different one (el cheapo) in then sell the box on Ebay.
CPU Choices:
AMD Sempron(TM) 3000+ (1.6GHz, 35W)
AMD Sempron(TM) 3200+ (1.8GHz, 35W)
AMD Athlon(TM) 64 3500+ (2.2GHz, 35W)
AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ dual-core (2.0GHz, 35W)

rhegedus,
is this an overclockers dream chip, low power and all. just wondering why you want this particular model if you don't mind me asking. The "backordered" $400+ ones I found make me think the HP deal I mentioned might be a bargain, buy it in a minimal configuration and cut the costs down. -

That said, I draw the line at using a $400 back ordered chip - for $800 I could build a blindingly fast dual core system with 2Gb RAM in a small form factor case like this:

It will fry his MoBo for sure...
I think you can get the 35W OEM only, not retail..... -
Go HP Slimline!

Actually I think the suggestion farther up is actually the best idea. You can buy direct from HP a s7600e cto with the 3800+x2 for $579. If you swap the processor and sell the new box for say $400 you with end up paying $179 for the processor upgrade. This is approx the price of the 89W ones. Best to find a buyer before you buy the new computer...not a problem if you use ebay for instance.
Go HP Slimline! -
Bear in mind that I live in the UK and HP uk does not allow customisation....
I might have a better idea....
Sell it and build my own small form factor PC.Regards,

Maybe their next 45nm fab will provide the lower powered cpu's...AMD surely is taking a dump next to Intel lately...hopefully they will step up and provide their (consumers) with the much needed competition. I've been a die hard AMD person for a long time, but they need to step it up.

Yeah AMD have shot themselves in the foot with the limited supply of x2 35W CPUs - what makes it worse is that they are being supplied to big corps like Dell and HP but the public has no access at all.
HP haven't exactly covered themselves in glory by making the motherboard so restrictive that you have only limited choice of CPUs.
The HP Slimline could be fantastic with the right kit - unfortunately HP want to hold you ransom to their demands, not the customers'Regards,

You would think that AMD could have really made a good strategic move on intel by mass production of X2 3800+ 35w chips (and faster) across a broad variety of socket/chipsets for motherboard makers as well as a good advertising campaign for public awareness, even though on the forum fronts the chip's prowess is fairly well known.
