I have owned this for a couple of years without problems, however I created one today and cannot find my manual.
I fiddled with the set-up and set the remote control to the 2nd remote, which I do not have and now my factory remote will not work and I cannot figure out how to reset the machine or how to access the setup for the machine from the controlls on the face.
can anyone help me?

If you changed the default remote ID on the recorder to something other than 1, there will be Recorder2 or Recorder3 shown in the front display. To set the remote control to match that, press and hold Return while pressing the appropriate number button on the remote until the indicator on the remote lights.
I believe the manuals are still available for download at pioneerelectronics.com. You probably need to search for the DVR-310 or DVR-310S manual. -
I looked at the Pioneer website ---> http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/
The DVR-310 manual is available as a PDF file but not the DVR-210 model. However as I recall the 210 and 310 were 100% identical except the 310 had a DV IN or IEEE 1394 input. The DVR-210 did not have that but is otherwise identical.
So download the DVR-310 manual. You do have to register on the Pioneer website but it is easy-to-do and free.
I got to the manual by doing the following:
1.) Go to the website.
2.) At the top I put the mouse pointer on SUPPORT and a menu pops up
3.) On that menu click on HOME ENTERTAINMENT
4.) A new webpage is loaded with a SEARCH BY PRODUCT drop-down box
5.) On that drop-down box select, "Blu-Ray Discs & DVD" and then click on VIEW MODELS
6.) A new webpage is loaded with a multiple sections
7.) On the section called, "Pioneer DVD Players & Recorders" click on VIEW OLDER MODELS
8.) You will now see a new webpage with a bunch of models listed including the DVR-310-S model
9.) Click on the DVR-310-S link to go to that product's info page
10.) There you will see a link for the OWNER'S MANUAL
Somewhere along the line (I think at step 9) it will ask you to register or if already registered this is when it asked you to log in with your username and password.

P.S.
The PDF file is 5.41MB in size."The eyes are the first thing that you have to destroy ... because they have seen too many bad things" - Lucio Fulci
