Hi all.
I have created a few flash animations which I want to convert to MPEG and put on a DVD. The resolution of the exported SWF files from Flash are 1024x576 (16:9).
From what I gather though, MPEG2 videos for DVD must be 720x576 (PAL). Am I right in thinking that for the video to retain correct proportions, I must somehow squish this 1024x576 MPEG into 720x576.
Am I also right in thinking I then need to convert the PAR from square to 16:9 so that the DVD player will stretch the image out again and fill the widescreen without making everything look fat?
I have a deadline approaching fast and I need to resolve this issue ASAP or all I will be able to deliver is a 4:3 DVD (This I have already achieved)
Many thanks.
Si.

FitCD creates an avisynth script. Load this script into any good encoder (tmpgenc : good but oh so slow, HCenc : very good, free, faster than tmgenc, CCE Basic : cheap, very fast, ProCoder : high quality, fast, not cheap) and encode as 16:9. Author as 16:9 and you will be done.
There are all in one converters, but the quality will be much lower.Read my blog here.
