  1. Greetings again all,

Sooo I just got a Dell Latitude D820 through work and it didnt come with any AV, ASW, or FW software on it. My boss recommended that I go and get Norton Internet Security as this is the one that he is currently using, but left it open for me to choose.

Anyone have any other suggestions for a security package including those 3 big ones?

Any advice is as usual, greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

  2. I have NIS on one of my systems.

It's okay but will occasionally hog the system - usually when doing a system scan.

Excellent information at www.download.com 's "Security & Spyware" section.

Read up on above recommendations, as well as reviews and make an informed decision and choose what you feel is right for you and your budget. Good luck.

Most (if not all) of these free options are not free for commercial use and as this is a laptop from/for work, it is commercial use. Having said that, the options listed here that I'm familiar with are worth paying for.

Whatever you do, DO NOT use Norton's, irrespective of what your boss thinks about it.

I'd go with AVG and Comodo firewall as well. Avira Anti-vir is also good ... even picks up some of my old DOS viruses and some of my pen-test tools as malware...it's almost too good.

  8. I believe McAfee has a good "package" deal for the AV/FW/ASW. That one any good?
