Help, help, help please! i have a few movie clips i downloaded from the internet. I want to burn them onto DVD's before i format my computer. Most of the files were burned to DVD but a few can't be burned. The clips can be watched normaly using midea player. I tried to use nero but it says that 2 files are missing Video_TS.ifo and another one. I tried other buring programes but non of them seem to work. All that happens is that my Pc looks like its buring the clips, but then when the burning prosses is done, and i want to play the DVD, My DVD player can't read anything as if the DVD is still empty! What should i do? Do the movie clips have missing files or soemthing ? If yes...can i add them so i can burn to dvd sucsessfully?

How did you convert? What tool? Use ConvertXtoDVD instead.

Or did you download a dvd with vob, ifo files?

It sound's as two possibilities .

1: You are burning file's not supported to dvd , therefore , it wont work ... as you have said , some are missing ifo's and that's what nero is complaining about .

2: The media type may be unsupported by the player , or inferior ... no ifo's wont help it either .

Nero speed tools to check your media first ... and make sure it supported by the dvd player ... usually dvd-r ... some dont touch + ... yes they still make these .

In your case ... you want to backup the file's before the reinstall ...

Burn the dvd as data , and ignore nero's complaint of the mix using dvd type file's with non dvd type's ... just burn them for a pc backup .
Do not forget , backup the license in the media player as well , it's in the option's .

You can use imgburn to add file's , and burn them .

    ============

Some point's on backup : Backing up the "important"

Note ... all zips generated will , should be found in the folder above the folder being zipped .

    Ie , c:\temp\test\1
    1 is zipped
Zip file is located in test folder .

This is zipgenious's default behavior .

Create a new folder on c:\ ... call it MyBackup

Add folder's , fav , outlook , license , software , video , my docs ... music if you have them

Backup media player's license as mentioned before ... and put it in the folder license

Export your outlook express address's , as cvs text only ... simple to reimport later ... put in outlook folder

Now , in windows explorer , tool's , folder views , view tab , check "show files and folders" , and the two under in , answer yes , hit apply and ok .

Visit your login account under "documents and settings"

Zip up your favourites .... put them in fav folder

Head to local settings , then application data , then identities .
Now a folder with a big number .
    Now inside microsoft
Now we have outlook express .

Zip up this folder ... put in outlook folder (reimport only after isp account has been recreated .. not before ... put them back where you found them only , then when you open outlook , bingo ... reimprt address's ... the cvs text file and your done) .

Mozilla has an option to export bookmarks to html ... do so if you use it ... put it in mine folder

With the security gone , go into windows , system 32 , grab copies of those wpa.bak and wpa.dbl ... there important ... put them in mine folder ..

These are used to get around reactivation .... but .

Go into control panel , and check the owner's name , and bussiness , write them down ... hopefully the default install was used .
Back in windows explore , check logon account's ... your name , the main one only ... it's the default registered account .

Also note the hard drive's format ... if this is changed , it wont activate , and you would need to phone ms .

Note : imaging a drive to a different model and brand dose not cause reactivation ... but the format dose count .

When reinstall is complete and it ask's for activation , reboot into safe mode , and copy from cd/dvd those two file's back into window's system 32 folder , and reboot ... should say it's activated ...

Ms may have developed a method to counteract this ... in this case , phone the sod's and explain the reinstall was due to a trojan infection that couldnt be fixed ... do a google search for these , and write down some of the nasty one's reported , and bs them into re-activation .

If you have nero , and cant locate serial for reinstall , run REGEDIT , and search for nero ... the serial will popup soon ... write it down .

    --------------------------

Now we come down to the final step's .

Place all music inside music folder .
Place all video inside video folder .
Place software , program downloads into software folder .

Last , those update's for xp ... windows folder ... software distro ... zip up this folder ... download ... it's got them all ... add to software folder .

    ------------------------

Confirm how much data is inside MyBackup ... if it's too big , you will need more than one disc

Create MyBackup2 ... move some of the sub folders here so both set's will now fit onto 2 disc's

You may simply want to burn the folder Video to dvd first , then remove that folder so you can burn the remaining content for the backup .

Do a read test before you proceed with the reinstall of the os ... it dosent do you any good if the data on the backup's can not be read after ... always confirm them before hand .

    ----------------

A good trick ... use the manufacture's tool's to setup the drive and format it too fat32 ... install , activate , make a backup image .

Then if you want , convert the system over to ntfs ... regards boot.ini issue under ntfs on ms site ... fat32 is not affected by issue .
