Trying to back up movie - tried smartripper 2.34 & 2.41 . Resulting VOB files size are not what they should be (1,048,544) I have 60 gig free space so that isn't the problem. I've tried ripping both angles on the dvd - same result. I can make a file backup of the vobs which produce the correct file size.
But, then when using DVD2AVI with the correct vob files, the resulting AC3 file is only 32meg! I've tried all audio channels etc. When using DVD2AVI the VOB cell ID flickers unusually, like it doesn't know where it's at. The movie appears to be there when scanning through manually with DVD2AVI. (I've tried ver 1.76 and 1.79)
The Audio is Dolby digital and is recognized by DVD2AVI.
I can usually figure this stuff out on my own, but this problem has me perplexed. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
The NUT

The audio in DVD2AVI was coming up DD 3/2 384 which I believe is 5.1
So the only thing I found was to select audio/dolbydigital/downmix.
Any other solutions? -
Tried selecting the downmix option for dolby digital under dvd2avi
Still produces a 32meg file.

are you ripping in movie mode or file mode in smartripper?
dvd2avi can't handle multi-angles. i had a similar problems when i ripped a movie with multi-angles using file mode in smartripper. dvd2avi made screwed up .wav file. so if you wanna frameserve in dvd2avi, you need to rip movie mode in smartripper. -
Ripped in movie mode and there were two angles to choose from.
Each rip produced incomplete vob's -- file size was much less than the 1 gig it should have been.
So I ripped the vob's in file mode. Then used DVD2AVI with NO AUDIO selected. Then used vob2audio to produce a correct wav file.
Had to rip the ifo file since vob2audio uses it and made a lst file of the vob's names and locations.
Worked great.
Thanks to Pinoy!
