	That's a PCI card ... right?

If so try uninstalling it and putting it in a different PCI slot then re-install it.

Sometimes a PCI card will work in one PCI slot correctly but not another.

Just one of those oddball computer things. Go figure.

Well as I understand it that device is a hardware MPEG-1/MPEG-2 capture card. Such cards usually come with software that tends to work better than 3rd party software.

So are you using the supplied software?

If not there are some 3rd party programs that tend to work OK with such cards. You might try BeyondTV or SageTV or ChrisTV etc.

All of those are programs you have to pay for but I think they all have a trail period so you can try it out without buying it first.

 Another thought or two ...

1.) Make sure all the settings are correct such as the video format (NTSC or PAL) and the frame rate (29.970fps for NTSC or 25fps for PAL) etc.

2.) You might have an issue with your video/graphics card ... specifically the overlay option(s). Might try "playing around" with that.

The Canopus mvr isn't a capture card. It's an Mpeg encoder. It basically converts analog S-Video and audio into MPeg files or streams in real time.

 Use the Canopus software.

 From that Canopus site:
"MediaCruise control software to its real-time MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 hardware encoding module for the company’s acclaimed real-time NLE, DVStorm."

That is a plug-in to DVstorm and is intended for output encoding.

I haven't used this card or software but it may should have some preview capability with included software. Call Canopus. They have good support in my experience. Recommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.
