I am looking to transfer video live from my camera to my laptop. Currently I am using WinDV, but I have had so problems with it and I also need to do some editing and would really like to get an all in one. I do not need to edit live just transfer live. I do not mind spending money for a product that will work but of course I want the best product for the money. Also my laptop has the highest processor and a large enough harddrive so I am not concerned with any of that.
Any help would be great.

Why not start with Windows Movie Maker - it comes with XP so it should be on your system. Look for it on the Start Menu.
It can do the capturing and basic editing including transitions and effects. If, after a while, you find it too simple, then you will know what extra features you need. That will assist with deciding which commercial editing package to go with (ranging from relatively inexpensive options like Adobe Elements to the full versions of Vegas, Premiere Pro etc).John Miller
