I'm 100% new to video editing, and I'm attempting to make a photo slideshow in Vegas. I have loaded all my pictures into the timeline. The problem is I can't find a good way to set the length of each picture.

How can I select all the photos and set the duration for them in the timeline simultaneously? I can't even find a way to punch in an exact number (i.e. 6.45 sec) let alone do them all at once.

    Please help!

    Thanks,
    Jesse

  2. Depends what version of Vegas you're using.

In Vegas Movie Studio 4.0, click on Options, Preferences, Video. Set the "New still image length" to what you want in seconds, THEN add your stills to the timeline.

In Vegas Movie Studio 7.0 Platinum or Vegas 6.0 (full version), click on Options, Preferences, Editing. Set the "New still image length" to what you want in seconds, THEN add your stills to the timeline.

If you're new to Vegas, you might consider renting the VASST Vegas training DVDs from smartflix.com. $10 per disk per week (compared to $50 or more per disk to buy), and they're very helpful.

If you don't have the full version of Vegas and you're serious about learning to use it, consider buying the full 6.0 version from bhphoto.com (disc only for $99 last I looked).

    Good luck and have fun!
