I just registered SVCD2DVD and downloaded the latest and was getting NeroAPI was not initialized when trying to go into the Preferences and Settings. I do not have Nero installed (this is a new box).
I searched the registery and the only real reference to Nero was in the SVCD2DVD DEMO folder. Yes, I had accidentally failed to uninstall the DEMO version before I installed the registered version, so I had both versions on my computer.
I uninstalled the demo and now the preferences and settings work on the registered version. Note, the preferences and settings errored the one time I tried it in the demo version too.
Just thought I would document this in the forum in the hopes it would help someone else who did the same thing.

ok. thanks for the heads up. The next version will be dropping Nero and promoting ImgBurn for the burning engine as it is more compliant.

Is Nero required to run svcd2dvd? I got this message also, and I can't get to the settings menu.

I have never had Nero, but there are dozens of registry entries referencing "nero" this and "nero" that. (I hate the windows registry, and I hate marketing deals made by Dell and other manufacturers!) There's no way of knowing where these entries have come from, and there's no way of knowing what bundled software will break if I delete them.

Is there a way to tell svcd2dvd to ignore Nero? Is the svcd2dvd version using ImgBurn imminent?

    Thanks,
    -Jim

ImgBurn is supported and highly recommended as the default burning engine for SVCD2DVD...

The best way to resolve your particular issue is to merge the attached registry update (by double clicking the reg file once unzipped).

You will probable need to open the settings and set the path to ImgBurn afterwards too.

What was meant in the last post is that i will be removing Nero support - ImgBurn 2+ is already supported.

Still getting the message: "NeroAPI was not initialized or was unsuccessfully initialized!" I have captured the debug message, if you'd like me to post or e-mail.

This is after I downloaded and installed ImgBurn. Program seems to run OK, though I didn't actually burn anything.

Next I downloaded and ran the registry patch in your previous post. Registry now contains an entry for [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Badger I.T.\SVCD2DVD 2.0\Settings\Burning]
    "BurningMethod"="ImgBurn 2+".

For good measure, I rebooted the box after each step described above, but I'm still getting the "NeroAPI" message from svcd2dvd. (SVCD2DVD Version 2.1 DEMO Build 2.1.2474)

OS is Windows Media Center Edition, though systeminfo reports: "OS Name: Microsoft Windows XP Professional OS Version: 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 Build 2600". Full systeminfo output is also available.

    Thanks,
    -Jim
