I recently purchased the Philips 5140 DVD player and it plays DVDs fine. But when I played a CD-R, it made a continuous noise every second. I suppose I would describe it as a loud ticking noise. I read some reviews somewhere where a few other people said they were having the same problem.
Is this supposed to happen? Why is it happening?
I can say that the CD-R is a data file of an AVI. That file wouldn't play on my computer until I installed the Xvid 1.1.2 codec. I haven't tried anything else in the DVD player as I haven't had a chance. But that ticking noise it's making is very annoying so it doesn't seem like that would be normal.
