toshiba D-R2 stadalone recorder won't record

I have had this unit for about a year and a half and never used it too much but always seem to have problems with it not recording . I chalcked it up as having crappy media. however now I bought brand new dvd-r and dvd-rw disks and neither wants to record. get the error that the disk may be dirty but they are right out of the case even with a wipe it does not work. I ran a laser cleaner through it which did not help. it plays store bought disks no problem any help or suggestions would be great.

I get that message on my DR2 as well....Most of the time it's incompatible media. I find this unit very picky about media... Maxell DVD-RW seem to work the best...

thanx did not think of that i use maxell for computer burner they work well
guess I have to pawn these memorex ones I have thnx again

I have the same player. I've never had any problems with Taiyo Yuden Dvr-R brand from Supermedia Store. They're the Best!
