    Hi, my first post.

I did a search and looked around various guides provided here, but didn't manage to find what I'm looking for, probably because it's not something that's done often.

Basically, I recorded a little video (with sound) on my digital camera, and because it was dark, the video is totally useless, but I need the sound.

How can I convert that video into an audio only file? I want to discard the video, and end up with a wav or an mp3 file.

    Thanks in advance.

    Vlad.

Depends on video format, but if AVI, load the AVI in VirtualDub, Save WAV.
...or load the AVI in Goldwave, Save WAV
For mpg, use the mpeg tools in TMPGEnc, simple demux to get the audio stream, then convert this (whatever format it is in) to wav with some audio editor like (again) Goldwave or Audacity.

Ah, I meant to include what format my video is in, but obviously forgot!

    It's in MP4.

Hi... considering my file's an MP4, what utility can I use then? And if someone could post some simple, step-by-step instructions, I'd be very grateful, as audio/video editting isn't my strongest side...

  5. Just a quick idea. If you can play the video on your computer, you could use Audacity (1.2.6) to record the sound. Then export that sound file as a WAV.

    Several methods,
You can use YAMB to split out the audio directly from the mp4. It could be in mp3 format already if not convert it to WAV or MP3 with for example SUPER.

Or open the mp4 in SUPER and convert directly to wav or mp3 file.

Or if you can play the mp4 it might work to open it directly in Goldwave and save as WAV.

Or mp4camtoavi and you have an avi file that you can open directly in Goldwave and save as WAV.
