This is my first time to actually register and post, though I've been all over this forum and learned a lot. I don't have any problem with syncing during a capture. I'm using PCTV Vision, which came with my Pinnacle PCTV, card fort this, capturing to DV format. However, once I edit the video with Virtual Dub Mod and reencode, the syncronization drifts during playback. What's even wierder is that if I scan straight to a specific point in the video (using the slider in WMPlayer), the video and audio resync to each other. The longer I watch without moving the slider, the worse the sync gets. I picked an event in one of the videos (a short homemade movie) which was very distinct and easy to see where the audio should line up with it and remembered the time at which VDM says this frame occurs. I then demuxed the sound to a wave file, opened it in Audacity, found the sound that corresponds to this frame and compared the time for it to the one I remembered from the video. They're identical. Can someone please explain why the sync drifts during playback, even though everything seems to check out? I heard a rumor there is a program somewhere which can fix this type of problem automatically. One more thing, if I convert the DV file to XViD without editing, using AutoGK, there is no sync problem at all, but I would really like to remove commercials, mask dropped frames, run filters, etc. Thanks in advance.
