I tried to make a xVCD. using TMPGenc, PAL, 2800kbps, 460x576 burned with Nero.
The problem is that when i use this resolution and play the VCD on my standalone dvd player the result is a stroboscopis effect as soon as there is motion in my clip. Strange thing is that this is not always the case (it soemtimes plays without problems). When i use the standard resolution (352x28it is ok.
Any tips or idea's?

1. 460x576 is not a standard resolution even for non-standard format like XVCD. Try 480x576 instead.
2. Try lowering bitrate to approx. 2500.
3. Are you sure your player DOES support hi-res XVCD? -
Aaah i did use 480x576 ofcourse (sorry type). What effect would a lower bitrate have?

Too high bitrate can cause stuttering. Which is too high depends on your player, but 2800 is too high for many players.
