I have an AVI file which audio and video are totally out of sync. I tried to correct the problem using audio skew delay on VirtualdubMod but the bigger problem is that the delay was not uniform. Please help. I'm new to this. Would appreciate a guide (preferably using Virtual Dub). Thanks!

If the audio is VBR MP3, convert it to Uncompressed PCM first, then try. If it still drifts in and out of sync then it cannot be fixed in virtualdub, and frankly will take more effort than it is worth to repair.

Sorry, how do I check if it is VBR MP3... and how do I uncompress?

Load the avi into virtualdubmod. If it is VBR you will get a warning. Click OK. Then click on Streams -> Stream List. Right-click on the audio track and select Full Processing Mode. Right-click again and select Compression. Click on Uncompressed PCM, then OK. Click on Save Wav.

Click on Add and select the wav file you just created. Click on the MP3 audio track and click Disable. Right-click on the Wav audio track and select Direct Stream Copy. Click OK.

File -> Save As. Make sure the video mode is also Direct Stream Copy and save a new avi file with the new audio. Test the sync. If it is fixed, you can do the same process again, but this time save out a CBR MP3 audio track to make the size smaller.

Well, virtualdub did not give me any warning when I loaded the file so I guess it's not a VBR MP3. but I went ahead and did uncompression just to test it.. And as expected, the new avi file isn't fixed Too bad..... But anyway.. Really appreciate all your help.
