  1. Is it true that the most common used is type2? because is interlaced or am I wrong?
and type1 can be either interlaced or progressive but it uses directshow instead? I'm all confuse... and which is by default better to go with? by the way how do I know which dv type my canopus advc110 uses? or does it depend on the software and if it does then why studio9 doesn't give me the option to go for either one?

As far as the video and audio side by side they are both the same... the word your looking for is interleaved not interlaced. They store the audio differently. Choose whatever works with your software.

Your advc110 doesn't use either, it only uses a DV compression stream. Your capsfer software determines whether to store it in a Type1 or Type2 .avi container file. I'm not familiar with Studio9 so I don't know which it uses. Presumably, if it has a capture function, it will capsfer to the correct type. If you look at the avi file using g-spot, it will tell you if it's a Type1 or Type2 file.
