    Hi guys,

maybe silly question but, is there any way to burn an .avi directly to DVD without converting to anything?
I already know how to create mpeg2, but would like to back up my avi's as well (the best quality) for later use.

Thank you for taking time with newbies like me...

    To a Data DVD ?

Sure. Any decent burning program (even WinXP's inbuilt burning tool) can do this. Just create a new Data DVD, and add the file(s) you wish to back up. Or if using Windows' tool, just right-click on the file(s) and go to Send To > <your DVD burner here>. This should then open up a page that shows "files waiting to be written to DVD".
    If in doubt, Google it.
