Server Side Encoding

Hey, I couldnt pick out the right forum for this so I applogize if its the the wrong place.

I am basicaly looking for a way to automaticaly encode video server side to ipod format eg.mp4, m4v etc

Im experienced with PHP so I could handle that side of things but I have no idea about software that could do tha job. I could do it manualy, download the video convert then upload but this is not what I am after.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Anything suggested is greatly apprecaited

Interesting but unless you have your own server you might as well forget it. I created about 1000 thumbnails/intermediate images server side once using imagemagick and that just about chewed up my total allowed CPU usage for the day on a shared hosting account...... Just letting you know in case you weren't aware.

I understand what Ill require to run the project, I have a dedicated server lined up
