  1. I recently purchased some cheap dual layer recordable DVDs. My first attempt at a 7GB DVD (a compilation of video clips) and got a Power Calibration Error when burning layer 2. I researched this error and found two suggested solutions:

    1 Use better quality media
    2 Update firmware

I updated my firmware on my Pioneer 110D writer and was able to burn the DVD. I have since made another DVD of 2 videos about 7.5 GB and got Power Calibration Error twice when burning layer 2. I therefore assume the quality of the DVDs I am using are pretty crap.

The brand I am currently using are Aone. I want to buy another brand of dual layer DVD but don’t want to buy another set of coasters so I’m hoping you can help me select some better quality media. Some available brands are bulkpaq, Datawrite, Datawrite Titanium, HP, Verbatim, Traxdata, Phillips, Ridisc Xtreme, Tuffdisc.

What do you recommend? Anyone used any of these brands with a Pioneer 110D without problems?

    Verbatim.

  3. I have the same burner, and use Verbatim DVD+R DL disks. I usually burn them at 2.4x unless I'm in a hurry. I've had fifteen successes and no failures.
