  1. I have some films and games on my pc which play fine on the pc.When burnt with Nero V6 i get the option to slow the burn down to 1-2-2.4-4-6-8 and so on.Burn when the disc actually starts to burn it seems to default to 4 speed. Is there a way to slow the speed down?.

What speed is your media? If you try to burn 16X at 4X or below, it may create a bad burn instead of helping it. The burner checks the media before burning and between it and Nero may be trying to adjust the burn speed to optimum.

The easy cure is to use good quality media with a newer burner and burn at the rated speed or just drop down one speed if you really feel you need to. You might also try ImgBurn instead of Nero. ImgBurn is less likely than Nero to tell you what it thinks is best for you.

  3. The discs are 8 speed. So what your saying that slowing down an 8 speed disc to burn at 4 speed could cause a bad burn.Cant say ive ever heard that before, but i will give it a go.
As for the burner it is a pioneer 110 and as i said the media is ritek g05 , ao wouldnt have thought there should be a problem there.
Trying ImgBurn now at 8 speed and ill report back.
    Thanks

Those interactive games are a bastard to backup to single layer, i'm sure there was a topic on this forum about them.

The g05's are known to have issues (cheap media).

However, what is the actual problem you are having? As stated above, there should be no reason to reduce your burn speed.

  7. Didnt realise g05 was classed as cheap media now.

  8. Why don't you just set your drive to PIO mode?

I tend to only use TY -R discs and Verbatim DL discs.

I have used other brands/types, usually without any problems. But whenever there is any question or problem, I switch back to known good media before any further troubleshooting.

Ritek are not the worst media out there. I use Ridata(Ritek) 8x media all of the time with no problems AT ALL. But I don't burn game discs....only video.
I'd suggest a different burning program. Prassi Ones is exceptional, is a 30 day trial and very inexpensive should you choose to keep it.
    Or a freebie like ImgBurn.

I've burnt hundreds of Ritek g05 printables on a Pioneer DVR-110D over the last year and have yet to get a bad burn with the combo at 4x and 6x. Gotten a couple at 8x but my belief is that was the result of a bad PSU a few months back. Although, in general, you'll probably get best results with Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim DVD-R.
