  2. I don't think you can use third party ink cartridges with the new epson's (not 100% sure) but the R220/320 does take third party ink cartridges.if you check ebay you will find tons of generic ink for the 220/320/R340 but nothing for the 380

welcome to the LEXMARK way all printers are chipped

  3. I"ll never buy another epson. I have an R300 and it drinks ink like mad, insisting on cleaning the heads every time I haven't used it in a week or so. And head cleaning shouldn't take enough ink to see the ink meter drop every time either. Won't let you print once the meter says it's out, even though there is still ink left. Has a counter built in so after so many drops you have to send it back to the factory to have it reset. A bunch on crap in other words. I'll buy HP from now on unless I start checking into other brands again. Lexmark and Epson are out for me.

well, because epson is the only one around that you can get the damn thing in the US without hacking it, i now own two. i actually never had an issue with my R200 for two years, and I have been using the R220 tray withj it.

i just got lucky and got an R340, which is the last generation that takes the old style ink for $69.99, that is a steal. also, i have never had a problem with ink from MEGATONERS. all 6 cartridges for about $23.00 shipped.....

oh, BTW, i sold my R200 for $25.00 with no ink!!!!!!

  10. I have an Epson R200 but it drank ink like a vampire drinks blood! Everytime I turned it on, it went through a priming process that used ink. I then bought some refillable cartridges and bulk ink from www.printonadime.com . They have chips on them that reset. Plus I took out the drain tube from the back and routed it outside into a small waste bottle. I will never have to have the pads replaced in my printer because very little ink now gets soaked up by them. I also use the Epson SSC Service Utility. hehehe. Epson no longer gets my money.

Same here. the only difference is I leave my printer on 24/7 so there isn't that auto prime everytime.....Also got the JWSales kit for over 3+years, and never a problem.

the hp did not get a good review from a customer of compusa, which is the only place i could find it....i am also not a fan of HP's paper loading amongst other things---the R340 made some awesome photo prints, and the DVD mechanisim is totally different than the R200, 300, 320......and the ink for the R340 is dirt cheap aftermarket--see link for a review...

  14. FYI, the r340 was available earlier today for $10 shipped, after rebate and google checkout. That was at Ritzcamera. I'm guessing it is sold out, or soon will be. It wasn't when I ordered.
