I have a Philips DVR630 DVD player at the moment. It's great in that I can download loads of DivX/Xvid stuff (films/episodes) put them on a DVDRW and just watch them from the player straight onto my TV.
Now, I'm looking for a HD recorder and ideally would like it to replace the DVD player as well. So it must be able to play downloaded media (eg: DivX/Xvid) from the DVD or HD.
Additionally:-
1) Friendly use.
2) Quiet - I don't want it to be as loud as a hair dryer.
3) RGB
4) Optical Digital Out - I need such a connection for my audio system.
5) USB would be fabulous, so I could drag and drop media onto the device.
6) Obviously be able to copy media from the DVD drive to the HD.
7) Region free.
8) Guide Plus to control my Sky digital box would be nice, but no essential as there's other way to hook them up.
9) HDMI output for if/when I get a better TV would be nice.
10) Reliable... I ideally don't want some Sonysung brand which will burn out in 12.01 months
Such a device must exist. Hopefully an owner of one can point it out to me...
