Probably the greatest DVD player on the face of the planet (at least for the money) and you have the nerve to say "oh boo hoo no support for a dying format that is essentially worthless anyways".

    How despicable of you.

  6. My first DVD player Pioneer DV333 costs $300, which is more than this oppo. A lot of bang for the buck.

It is sad that no retail store carries oppo.

Well the whole point of this DVD player is to use the HDMI output.

Even the previous OPDV971H only used the DCDi by Faroudja processing when using it's DVI out port.

No point in getting this model if you aren't going to take advantage of the DCDi by Faroudja processing.

true -- i was just mentioning the fact though as an oddity -- no component at all is unusual ...

    My guess is this ...

With the OPDV971H model there was DVI out and component out ... but only the DVI out used the Faroudja DCDi chipset. I bet a lot of people didn't realize that.

So my guess is they decided to drop the component out so people wouldn't make that confusion again because hey you can't be confused with only one HD capable output.

    I dunno ... just a thought.

My HDTV has a HDMI input so I will be using that once I get around to ummm saving up enough money to buy this LOL
