I'm going with "No" - you cannot capture with this card! Just out of curiosity - what makes you thing you can?

This card has two DVI outs and an s-video out.

Well, the cable(a split) I got with the card is an SVHS-> SVHS in/out and two yellow cables with in/out, so I was thinking maybe I can capture with this card.

I did a search on the forum and found this
" .......Most people prefer internal cards like the Hauppage 250, then there is a new NVIDIA capture card which I've only read one review on, but it looks promising, there are the All-In-Wonder cards which some people swear by, the new ATI X1300 - X1900 video cards use ATI's AVIVO technology can capture video. Whatever happened to reading the manual and don't say you lost it ... any decent company will have a manual PDF for download.

If the card came with the dongle you described, it's most likely that you CAN use this card to capture video. Here's a quicky guide:

    1. Install the WDM driver for the card. Download it from ATI if you don't have it.
    2. Connect the dongle to the card and connect the video in, either composite or svideo.
    3. Connect the audio for the video source to your sound card/integrated sound line in.
    4. Run VirtualDub or VirtualVcr to capture the video to an AVI format file.

The capture app will find the device if the driver is correctly installed. Initially the video may look messed up so you might have to fiddle with the video settings in the capture app. If no audio is being captured, make sure the Windows Audio Recording source is set to "line in". For more info, check the guides for capturing. Good Luck.

I think that thread you read is talking about the X1900 All-In-Wonder

That's how I read it. I do not know about the cable you got. I would guess it is to go from the s-video outs to standard RCA jacks.

As FulciLives says, I have not read the manual!

Here is from the settings in Virtual VCR and it seems to be a capturecard in the card right?

But I get no picture in the preview, only a blackscreen. I have connect the SVHS from my card to my TV....I guess I need a SVHS-out on my TV?!?!

EDIT: I get a picture if i connect the composite cable to the DVD and play a movie but I want the TV picure from my Tvchannels

I'm lost - what are you using as the IN on this card?

    Is this your card?http://www.sapphiretech.com/en/products/graphics_overview.php?gpid=137

I take it this card does not have an RF input. If true and you want to record TV channels then you need a tuner. For instance if you have cable TV or satellite TV then use the analog video/audio outputs from the cable/satellite box for connection to the Sapphire.

If you have cable TV but no cable box then you can get a VCR and connect the cable (RF cord) to the VCR then output the analog video/audio outputs from the VCR to the Sapphire.

When I say analog video/audio I am talking about composite video or S-Video plus the stereo (red/white) RCA plugs.

    P.S.
I am sure that if you search the Sapphire website that you can download a PDF file of the manual for your Sapphire video card. A PDF file can be read using Adobe Acrobat (now simply called Adobe Reader). That program is freeware.

You got the capture app to see the playback of a DVD that is connected to the video in connector of the dongle, which means you got the capture to work. Unfortunately for you, this is all your x1900xt can do, which is to capture and record from an external device such as a VCR, DVD player/recorder, or camcorder. As FulciLives stated, if you want to record TV programs "live", you have to use your VCR, DVD recorder, etc. for the input to the card. For basic capture projects, like converting home movies or old VHS tapes to DVD, your x1900xt is a decent solution. As a PVR, it is pretty clumsy to use, but do-able. Good Luck.
